The position of Supervisor, Chem Lab, with SOC LLC, A Day and Zimmermann Company, is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, “High-desert, mountain-side”, community of Hawthorne. Hawthorne Army Depot, known as “The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world,” is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities, located in Northern Nevada and Northern California, including South Lake Tahoe, Reno/Sparks, Carson City, Fernley and Sparks, all of which offer abundant opportunities and access to high quality shopping, recreation, health care, education and entertainment.

Assists the manager in planning and developing policies and procedures to establish goals for the Chem Lab. Ensures compliance with company policies and safety standards. Assists the manager to assure chem lab operations are carried out in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations; Prepares and maintains laboratory certification.Customarily and regularly supervises the work of two (2) or more employees. Recommends hiring, termination, promotion, or change of status of employees.
Oversees subordinate lab personnel, tests and conduct analyses of explosives, loaded explosive components, propellants, and other items to determine and evaluate chemical and physical properties
Propvides professional level assistance in judging acceptability by comparing results of tests and analyses with specifications and acceptance criteria. Prepares written reports of tests conducted and their results. Performs other tests and analyses as directed in preparation of reports and records.
Ensures the serviceability of all Laboratory equipment and maintain maintenance subcontract service reports on all laboratory instruments and equipment.Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned and may be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty as needed.
Reports potential or known safety and environmental concerns to the appropriate dept. of personnel.Maintains high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations; treat all individuals fairly and with respect.
EDUCATION: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent and B.S. degree in Chemistry or related field, required (Equivalent combination of formal educaton and directly related job experience.may be considered)
LENGTH OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years in related field. Laboratory supervision experience desirable.
CERTIFICATIONS: Must be able to obtain and maintain all ceritifcations as required byt SOC's Master Training Plan.
LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada driver’s license. Must be able to obtain and maintain the apropriate level of security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
OTHER: Must be able to perform work duties, routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all time, and especially alert while performing safety sensitive duties.
